Get your creative interior design ideas working at top speed once you have had a sneaky first peek at the show flat in Penarth Heights’ Outlook House apartment block.

Built by Crest Nicolson on the site of the former Billy Banks estate, we’ve tracked down the interior genius who created this stunning apartment’s decor and asked him for some tips on how to create a show home style in our own homes.

Andrew Henry at Andrew Henry Interiors has been working with Crest Nicholson for over twelve years. He founded his own business nine years ago, and has continued to design the interiors for these developments and many more. And they are all gorgeous.

Andrew says: “I believe that by following a few simple rules, anyone can get a show home look in their own home.”

    Happy days.

    1. Limit colour choice

“With a small apartment, it’s best to limit the colours you use to maximise light and space.”

In addition, add key pieces that have reflective surfaces to bounce light around the room, and not just the obvious choice of a mirror. There is a wonderful range of mirrored furniture and glass surfaces to choose from in stores and online to add not just light, but super show home style.

    2. Choose limited accent colours

A uniformed approach to colour choice and accents can create flow and link rooms together effortlessly.

Andrew says: “I’d recommend choosing an accent colour to run throughout your home as having lots of different bold colours in different rooms can become overwhelming.”

“In Outlook House in particular, we tried to make sure the interior design was contemporary and in the style of the architecture and the apartment. We chose Lapis blue as the accent colour as it’s a warm colour tone but also very calm and relaxing to live with.”

    Gorgeous.

    3. Choose a consistent base colour

Breaking news: a base colour for every room in your house does not have to be magnolia or white (although they are great choices too).

Andrews says: “Grey is great base colour to start with as it’s on the monochrome palate so you can pick any accent colour.”
