Bedroom is the most “sacred” place in our home, even though not all visitors have a chance to look, we still have to decorate our bedroom
Here are some tips.
- Create a focal point
Having a focal point is important to keeping a bedroom balanced. Make your bed the visual focal point of the bedroom with a unique and eye-catching headboard. If you don’t own a headboard, you can create the illusion of one with a large piece of art hung above the bed. Finally, anchor the bed with two bedside tables. Now that you have the focal point of your bedroom, find complimentary furnishings or accessories to make it feel more complete.
- Use color
Choosing the right color will give your room its overall theme. Do you want bold, rich colors that pop? Or do you prefer softer pastels? Choose one main color for the bedroom and add more complementary colors throughout to add interest. Use the 60-30-10 Rule to get the perfect balance of color. That is, your primary color takes up 60% of the room, the secondary 30%, and the accent color 10%.
- Add lighting
Finding the right lighting for your bedroom can make the difference between it feeling like a cozy safe haven or a cold hallway in an office building. Lamps are so functional for creating the perfect lighting in a bedroom. Plus, they make great accessories to your nightstand or vanity. You can also replace your ceiling fan with a vintage chandelier to add elegance. Whether you prefer the lighting in your room bright or dim, be sure to customize the lighting that best suits your needs and preferences.
- Personalize it
Your bedroom should be your sanctuary, so make sure you add personal items that bring you a sense of comfort. Add pictures of loved ones, family heirlooms, favorite books and accessories that show off your unique style and taste. Don’t pressure yourself to completely decorate (or redecorate) your room at once. You can add new items or rearrange furniture so it’s constantly evolving with you.
