Our top five tips to sell your home this spring

1

Everybody is excited, spring is here!

It is traditionally a time when activity in the buyers’ market takes off, with many people following up on their initial interest from the new year period.

The longer days also mean would-be buyers are happier to be out and about viewing properties and making offers.

Below, using our know-how and experience as one of Wellingborough’s leading estate agents, we outline the ways in which you can increase your chances of selling this springtime

Make your home look great

An attractive, well-maintained home will always have more appeal to buyers than one that is shabby and tired-looking. It might simply be a fresh lick of paint on the walls or a thorough once over of the kitchen and bathrooms, to give them the sparkling, gleaming, hotel-style look.

On the other hand, it might be a case of decluttering and depersonalising your home to make it easier for would-be buyers to imagine themselves living there.

They may seem insignificant, but little things like plumping up the cushions, installing house plants and flooding your property with the right amount of light will help to make it much more visually appealing.

Improve your home’s exterior

A property’s exterior, or ‘kerb appeal’ as it’s also known, is what a would-be buyer makes of a home from the outside, at a first glance. In many cases, if buyers don’t like the exterior they will go no further with the viewing, which highlights the huge importance of making sure your home’s exterior is of the highest standard.

Driveways and front gardens should be well-kept and attractive, potential parking spaces on the street should be pointed out, and you may also want to give the outside of your house a quick refresh by painting or whitewashing the walls.

Ultimately, you want to make the first impression of your home the absolute best it can be.

Use your garden

If you have garden space, no matter how big or small, it’s likely to be a key selling point so you should treat it that way. First, of course, you need to make it look presentable – but this is something that shouldn’t take too much time or effort.

A quick mow of the lawn here, a few hanging baskets and plants there, you get the picture!

Then you need to show this off to would-be buyers, many of whom will be impressed by a well-kept garden space, particularly as the weather gets warmer and the days get longer.

If families are viewing your home, it’s imperative that your agent highlights how the garden is the perfect space for kids to run around in and the perfect place in which to entertain on those long, hot summer days.
