150th Civil War Sesquicentennial Signature Event – “Occupation and Liberation” Symposium

The 2013 Tennessee Civil War Commission’s Signature Event, “Occupation and Liberation,” will include special tours, educational symposiums, living history demonstrations, book signings and entertainment. The Official Opening Ceremony will begin at 10 am EDT, Oct. 11 and will include special guests and musical performances. The ceremony will be followed by a forum with America’s foremost historians on the Battles for Chattanooga, living history demonstrations and a Sesquicentennial Civil War exhibit offering rare and unique artifacts from the Battles for Chattanooga. These events are sponsored by the TN Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission, TN Civil War National Heritage Area, TN Department of Tourist Development, TN Historical Society, Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park, Friends of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, and the Chattanooga Convention and Visitors Bureau. All CC events are free but seating is limited so you need to register. Local bus tours and Saturday night’s event are ticketed.
