We caught up with newly married E News! anchor Jason Kennedy and fashion blogger Lauren Scruggs ofLOLO Magazine to get some pro tips on decorating for just-hitched couples.
Jason Kennedy and Lauren Scruggs are loving the married life. Since tying the knot in December, the happy couple has settled nicely into their new LA home. “We waited until after the wedding to move in together, and it has only made our relationship stronger,” Kennedy says.
With the help of HomeGoods, they transformed their new home into a stylish haven that blends both of their aesthetics into one seamless look. Below, they give us a peek inside their home and share their top just-married decorating and entertaining tips for summer and beyond.
1. BEFORE STARTING, AGREE ON A CERTAIN LOOK
“We have similar tastes and had a good idea of what we wanted going into it,” Kennedy says. “When we initially bought the house, we had discussed our general idea. We were both looking for something modern and comfortable—not too stuffy or overdone.”
2. DON’T BE AFRAID TO MIX DIFFERENT STYLES
“Our home is very modern with clean lines and shades of white, but we also wove in some beachy, coastal elements like the woven mirror in my office and rustic touches like the teak lanterns from HomeGoods in our backyard,” Scruggs says.
3. MAKE COMPROMISES AND BLEND IN PIECES FROM YOUR PAST
lthough the happy couple describes the process of moving, combining their belongings, and decorating as a “breeze,” they did make some compromises along the way. “I’ve had this tufted couch since my first apartment and we both agreed that it could stay because it’s not too feminine,” Scruggs says. “I did have to put my foot down when it came to his brown leather circle bed. That was not going to happen!” Kennedy adds, “The circle bed did look awesome in my old place, but it definitely wasn’t a fit for our new home. Everyone agreed with Lo, it had to go.”
