Documenting Cherokee Heritage

Suzette Raney of the Local History and Genealogy Department will lead researchers through the steps to document Cherokee Heritage. She will illustrate the use of the Guion Miller Eastern Cherokee Applications, the Dawes Applications, and other rolls such as the Old Settler Payment Roll of 1896. The Chattanooga Public Library contains one of the largest collections of Cherokee resources in the country. This event is in commemoration of the 175th anniversary of the Trail of Tears.
