    Amanda Reilly: Absolutely. You can lean back, and it feels really good because the water comes almost up to your neck — it’s like a Japanese soaking tub.

    Did you think twice about putting such a big tub in such a small space?

    Actually, it’s the standard size. But it looks much bigger because it’s so tall — 24¼ inches as opposed to the normal 14 to 18. And the tub stands on wenge feet and doesn’t touch the walls, so it seems to float.

    Still, you didn’t have all that much space in here. How come the room doesn’t feel tight?

    Because we raised the ceiling from seven-and-a- half to nine feet to capture more space. That was the big move. Then I came up with the idea of building out the wall and doing the cove lighting.
